Overall height 56-60". Trains originate in the staging yards near the bottom in the workshop area. Ready trains will continue past/above the helix and enter the layout room on what is the Metropolitan Branch of the B&O. The trains will come off the main, onto the Georgetown Branch and pass the team tracks, coal dock siding and the E.C. Keys warehouse siding. Passing under Brookeville Rd. the trains will then continue over a large wooden trestle spanning Rock Creek. A short distance later trains will approach the T.W. Perry siding, cross Connecticut Ave. and the passing siding/team track there. Continuing on, trains pass under Wisconsin Ave. and into downtown Bethesda where there is a passing siding and several sidings for various industries. Trains continue on, across another duck-under bridge and enter Dalecarlia tunnel and into the helix to the lower level.
