Rebuilding after Hurricane Agnes, (Oct 1972)

This trestle had a troubled history, and 1972 was a red letter year. One half of the trestle was washed away in the flooding following Agnes. The B&O rebuilt, this time out of steel beams. Some equipment was trapped in Georgetown for some time and really became a large part of the impetus for rebuilding the trestle. The rebuilding of 1972 was the last major rebuilding of the trestle until 2003 when the trestle was rehabilitated and reopened for pedestrian use.
