View of Georgetown Junction, 3/30/2002

View southeast. One can see the signal placement to the right protecting the branch. The bridge in the background is a very old one-lane auto bridge. It still carries Talbot Ave. across the tracks - see map! Also note the derail located several yards in front of the camera. The tracks continue a few hundred yards behind the camera.

Wasn't the Talbot Ave. bridge an old turntable from the Martinsburg shops?

Greg - the turntable bridge likely came *from* the Martinsburg Shops but was not likely used there. The B&O had their Bridge department located at Martinsburg and many of the bridge parts used on the line would have been stored there. My understanding is that Martinsburg never had a turntable the size of the Talbot Ave bridge.
